ItineraryDay 1 (Friday): Arrival Day & Evening City Tour of YerevanArrival in Tbilisi or Yerevan airport; meet our representative and transfer to a hotel in Yerevan (check-in after 15:00). Visit the Mother Armenia monument and enjoy a spectacular view of Mt. Ararat and central Yerevan. Explore the Matenadaran Institute of Ancient Manuscripts, the Cascade complex, the Opera House, Northern Avenue, Republic Square, and the Armenian Genocide Memorial. Afterwards, shop for souvenirs at the “Vernissage” market. Day 2 (Saturday): Yerevan – Khor Virap – Echmiadzin – Zvartnots – Yerevan09:00 – Drive to Khor Virap Monastery, where Mt. Ararat reveals its breathtaking size and splendor. Continue to Echmiadzin, the spiritual and administrative center of the Armenian Apostolic Church, and visit its main cathedral. Return to Yerevan. En route, stop by the ruins of the 7th-century Zvartnots Temple. Day 3 (Sunday): Yerevan – Garni – Geghard – Lake Sevan – Haghpat – Armenia/Georgia Border – Tbilisi09:00 – Check out from the hotel. Drive to the 1st-century Garni Pagan Temple, the oldest surviving building in Armenia. Visit the 13th-century Geghard Cave Monastery. Continue to Lake Sevan and explore the monastery of Sevanavank on the Sevan peninsula. On the way to Alaverdi, stop in Dilijan to see the historical district (Sharambeyan Street). Visit Haghpat Monastery, then proceed to the Armenia–Georgia border. After border formalities, drive to Tbilisi. Day 4 (Monday): Tbilisi – Jvari – Mtskheta10:00 – Begin exploring Tbilisi’s old town: Sameba (Trinity) Cathedral, Metekhi Church, and the Bridge of Peace. Ride a cable car to Narikala Fortress and the Mother of Georgia statue. Arrive in Telavi, explore the old town and food market, then check in to your hotel. Day 6 (Wednesday): Alaverdi – Tsinandali – Ananuri – Gudauri09:00 – Start the day at Alaverdi Cathedral (early 11th century), one of the four Great Cathedrals of Georgia. Next, visit Tsinandali Estate to see Prince Alexander Chavchavadze’s home, an art gallery, and a bar offering the first Georgian wine produced using European methods. Continue along the Georgian Military Highway. Stop by the Zhinvali Reservoir and visit Ananuri Castle. Check in and have dinner at your hotel in Gudauri. Day 7 (Thursday): Kazbegi – Gergeti – Gori – Tbilisi09:00 – Travel over the Cross Pass on the Georgian Military Road. Make a stop at the Friendship Monument, then continue to Stepantsminda (Kazbegi), a town framed by stunning Caucasus peaks. Drive up to Gergeti Trinity Church for panoramic views of the mountains. Afterwards, head to Gori to visit Stalin’s birthplace and museum. Return to Tbilisi for check-in at your hotel. Day 8 (Friday): Lagodekhi – Azerbaijan Border – Sheki09:00 – Drive to the Lagodekhi border crossing with Azerbaijan. After border formalities, meet your Azerbaijani guide and head to Sheki. En route, visit the first Albanian church in the Caucasus (1st century AD) in Kish Village. Arrive in Sheki and tour the medieval fortress, Sheki Khans’ Palace, handicrafts workshop, local mosque-madrassah, and bazaar. Day 9 (Saturday): Shamakhi – Baku09:00 – Depart for Baku. Along the way, visit the historic Juma Mosque and the Yeddi Gumbez (Seven Domes) mausoleum in Shamakhi, the graveyard of the Shirvan Shahs. Arrive in Baku and enjoy an evening city tour (1 hour). Day 10 (Sunday): Absheron Peninsula – Gobustan – Baku09:00 – Explore the Greater Baku area and the Absheron Peninsula. Start with Gobustan National Park to see the Petroglyphs Museum and rock engravings dating back to 10,000 BC. Continue to the mud volcanoes of Gobustan Reserve (home to nearly half of the world’s mud volcanoes). Next, drive to the Ateshgah Fire Temple in Surakhany Village, where Zoroastrians from India once worshipped. Finally, visit Yanar Dag (“Burning Mountain”), which has been aflame for millennia.
